Newsweek’s Getting Lazy, or The Evolution of Obama’s Halo

The beatification of Barack Obama was, once, something only to be hinted at:

He’s a force for good, bathed in the light of God. It’s like a sunbeam broke through the clouds to highlight his path as the chosen one. But this wasn’t quite driving the point across, so news magazines had to up the ante:

The light of God is upon His head; He is here to absolve us of the sins of racism.

Do not question His experience! He has all He needs. But some of you people aren’t getting the point. Rolling Stone decided to make things slightly more explicit in an effort to stop the doubting heathens:

And now Newsweek has thrown up its hands and said “Aw, f—k it. He’s a goddamn saint. He has a halo! A super, super gay halo!”

In a way, the honesty of this is far more refreshing than the rest of that silliness above. It’s about time the media admitted they thought of him as a saint, a holy figure.
