All hail King Douche!

by Sonny Bunch on August 1, 2012

(Update two: My thoughts on King Douche’s firing are here. Worth checking out for the Condescending Wonka illustration alone.)

So look: I get that this Chick-fil-A thing has inflamed passions on both sides. Liberals think this is a civil rights issue about gay marriage; conservatives think it’s a civil rights issue about freedom of speech and the government using its power to stifle politically unacceptable thoughts. But certainly we can all agree that YouTube user Amsmith77Amsmith—if that even is his real name!—is King Douche, right? (Update: King Douche deleted his video after receiving a great deal of unwanted attention. Apparently, the King doesn’t understand how the Internet works any better than how tolerance works: Once you post a video (or a photo, or just about anything else) it’s there for-ev-er. Here’s his clever little video in all its vile glory. Enjoy! I believe Jim Treacher, of the Daily Caller, gets the hat tip for reposting this bad boy.)

I mean, let’s just consider the thought process here: “I’m really mad about Chick-fil-A’s corporate political giving. So I’m going to harangue a woman making, in all likelihood, somewhere between $7.25 and $8 per hour about how she’s a terrible person. That’ll show the man!

So congrats, Amsmith77Amsmith! You are the new King Douche. Please use your power for good—maybe you can find a senior citizen to mock, or a teenager who doesn’t live up to your ideals about what it means to be a good person!

“Are they having a sit-in? I really hope they’re having one — I can bring the Cher CDs.”

I think King Douche had better avoid drive-throughs from now on, for fear of the workers spitting in his drink.

Imagine his horror when he found out that those college kids were from the Campus Crusade for Christ!

She: Poised; courteous; non-confrontational; well-wisher; PERSISTENT IN HER GOOD WILL. She is a superb example of tolerance in the face of bigotry.

He: Intentionally vicious; “gotcha” fail; clueless and repetitious in his unending attacks. He is a superb example of a classless and intolerant jerk.

THERE WE HAVE IT: A TINY BATTLE OF GOOD AND EVIL AT A CHIC-FIL-A DRIVE THROUGH WINDOW. Virtue and good will WON. I salute this exemplary young woman.

The irony is that he was so self righteous and proud of himself for speaking truth to power — whatever power a drive thru attendent has — that he recorded a video of himself to preserve for all posterity.

And now that video has gotten him fired, while I suspect the young woman who was completely polite, poised, and respectful still has her job.

Imagine this guy at his NEXT job interview. “Mr. Smith, why did you leave your previous job?” …

The irony being he will only get a job at a drive thru. Buwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha….

Heh, good one.

Bob Webster August 3, 2012 at 3:16 pm

Let’s all now pray for the follow up story where we find “The King” filling out a Chik-fil-a job application because no one else would hire him……not that there’s anything wrong with that!

Ok, so King Douche is being a jackass in the name of tolerance, but feels compelled to tell the sever he is straight. Nice.

“several rights issue about gay marriage” should be civil rights.

Feel free to nuke this comment if you correct it.

Thanks for the heads up. Comment approved as a shameful reminder of my Yglesias-like lapse.
